Hilltop Middle School Newsletter 04-05-20

April 5, 2020 COVID 19, Distance Learning Update

Falcon Community,

Let me begin by stating that the teachers, counselors and staff at Hilltop Middle School miss our students tremendously.  We hope that all our families and community members are safe and healthy during this challenging time.  Last week Superintendent Janney sent to the entire Sweetwater District community a notification outlining our transition plan for Distance Learning based on the COVID 19 crisis.  Beginning Monday April 6, 2020, our teachers will begin two weeks of preparation for developing distance Learning virtual classrooms for all students.  The goal of this preparation time is to be able to begin distance learning for all Hilltop Middle School students on April 20, 2020. During these two weeks teachers will also begin to re-connect with students and families through various online formats including email and Jupiter messages.   As we approach the April 20, 2020 roll out of online classes please be sure that you and your students are monitoring all your email and Jupiter Grades messages daily.

In the two weeks that teachers are preparing, we encourage you to have your students utilize any of the online enrichment materials from the links below.  Teachers will also be sending out enrichment activities in these two weeks.  Formal graded assignments and lessons will not commence until April 20, 2020.   More information regarding the online school schedule will be sent to all students and parents by April 13, 2020.

The nature of the current pandemic causes us to place the highest emphasis on the health and well-being of our students and staff.   I ask for your grace and your patience as we embark on this venture to educate our children through distance learning.

Sincerely,

Robert Hughes

Principal Hilltop Middle School
