About Us

Hilltop Middle School is a two-year middle school serving grades 7-8. Hilltop was opened in 1959 and became a middle school in September 1993. Named a California Distinguished School in 2001, Hilltop Middle now serves over 1,000 students in a variety of programs including ELD classes for English Learners, the Foreign Language and Global Studies magnet, health for adolescents, technology lab, an orchestra program, AVID, an extensive Special Education program, credit recovery offerings, and many electives.

Minimum days each Friday allow teachers the time to collaborate in Professional Learning Communities in order to create and implement support for every student.

Staff supports student mastery of both academic standards  and life skills, which promote good decision-making, social skills, healthy choices, and responsibility. We measure our success using a variety of flexible academic assessments and the evidence of a thriving school culture. Our school is fully committed to a comprehensive student support system that includes adult and peer modeling, mentoring, clear expectations, sequential interventions, and parent involvement.”

Students in the Sweetwater Union High School District are expected to master state and district standards which will prepare them to meet the challenges of the 21st century.
